I believe it's going to be a great fight between the two, although many critics are aghast at the "opportunism" displayed by both Pacquiao and dela Hoya.
Another kind of opportunism is afoot in Philippine politics, also involving Manny. abs-cbnnews.com reports that Pacquiao has joined GMA's political party KAMPI. Apparently, Pacquiao still wants to run for an elective post, and KAMPI is only willing to indulge Manny. The report states that "the administration also has the intention of fielding Pacquiao again as a congressional candidate in the 2010 elections." The Administration is all too happy riding Manny's jock in the hope of gaining another seat in Congress, as if they don't have enough already. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Pacquiao when he is in the squared circle. But Pacquiao may be biting off more than he can chew in trying to secure a place in the Halls of Batasan. Winning a congressional seat is one thing, but serving as a Congressman is another. Does it matter to KAMPI if Pacquiao does well as a congressman or not? Not really, for as long as they get that one congressional seat.
